Overview
Famous for its spectacular cathedral, carnival and Christmas markets, Cologne is also the beating heart of Germany’s industrial Rhineland. The region has a rich history of scientific discoveries, including our most famous prehistoric relatives, the Neanderthals.
Cologne is an excellent base for exploring the Rhineland’s science museums, including the high-tech, hands-on Odysseum, and Sea Life aquarium. A highlight is the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) School Lab, a former astronaut training facility where students can experience a day in the life of an aerospace researcher. Why not round off your trip with an unforgettable day at Phantasialand, one of Germany’s most popular theme parks?
