Today provides an introduction to Warsaw's history. Begin your trip exploring the cobblestone alleys and medieval buildings of Warsaw’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Old Town was almost totally destroyed during World War II, and the project of reconstruction was the world’s first attempt to resurrect an entire historic city core.
Next, visit Warsaw’s 14th-century Royal Castle, the historical residence of Polish monarchs. Explore the castle’s art collection and enjoy a guided tour of the royal apartments.

An essential visit for understanding the over 1000 years of Jewish history in Poland, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews is the perfect visit for your second day in Warsaw.
In the afternoon, visit the Warsaw Ghetto Memorial which commemorates the resistance of Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto during Nazi occupation.
It is now time to visit Pawiak Prison, a former Nazi prison during WWII, now a museum. It was used to detain Polish resistance members and political prisoners. Discuss the experiences of those detained there and how the prison's legacy is part of Poland’s fight for independence.
Finish the day with a stroll around neighbourhood Muranów, built on the rubble of the former Ghetto. The views today are a far cry from the ghetto, with skyscrapers and modern architecture defining the skyline.
-

Begin today with a visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum, providing engaging exhibitions on the 1944 Warsaw uprising and the post-war period, touching on the Soviet-imposed communist regime that followed.
Next, a short visit to the Palace of Culture and Science will give students an insight into post-WWII Poland, when the Soviets built the monumental structure as a symbol of communist influence. You can also take a quick trip up to the observation deck to view the entire city.
Finish off the day venturing to the other side of the Vistula River to explore Warsaw’s Praga District, a neighbourhood that boasts examples of Soviet-era architecture and street art.
