Overview

Balancing on the edge between Africa and Europe, Tangier is a melting pot of cultures which offers unique experiences to all who seek them. Tangier’s connection to spirituality is evident through its beautiful mosques including the Grand Mosque of Tangier, built on the site of a Roman temple dedicated to Hercules. You’ll be able to visit traditional Islamic places of worship, head to stunning palaces and experience Tangier first-hand with Arabic calligraphy and cooking workshops.

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Flight from UK to Tangier.

Private coach transfer to your accommodation with an English-speaking guide.

  2. Day 2

After breakfast, head into the heart of the city with a guided tour of Tangier City.

The Grand Socco Souk is first on the agenda; a labyrinth-like market whose paths get narrower and more mysterious the further you delve into it. With a wide variety of goods available from fresh produce through to hand-crafted slippers, this market gives a great insight into Moroccan culture.

Next, head to Kasbah Museum, a former Sultan’s palace. Today, its walls are home to Islamic art, beautiful mosaics, calligraphy, carvings and manuscripts.

Dar El-Makhzen is next on the agenda. Head into this historical palace which has views that can extend to Spain and the straits of Gibraltar!

Spend some time exploring all the Kasbah Quarter has to offer, its stunning narrow streets and ancient houses are glimpses into Tangier’s past.

Finish the day by visiting the operational Kasbah Mosque, dating from 1684, built immediately after Morocco’s seizure of the city from the English.

  3. Day 3

Visit Tangier American Legation Museum, a symbol of Moroccan American diplomacy as well as a great insight into Tangier’s multicultural past and artistic heritage.

Now you’re headed to Mendoubia Gardens, a green oasis surrounded by an elegant line of colonial buildings.

Next, it’s time to dive into Petit Socco, a small square with colourful streets contrasted with pearl white buildings- it’s the perfect place to grab a mint tea, admire the building facades or hit the shops!

The Grand Mosque is next on your list, showcasing the region’s deep connection to spirituality and Islam. Built in the 8th century, the exterior of the mosque is equally impressive as it is beautiful.

Now it is time to put pen to paper in an Arabic Calligraphy workshop. You’ll learn key Islamic phrases and understand the linguistic roots of the Arabic language.

Watch the sunset from the most scenic beach in Tangier, Merkala Beach.

  4. Day 4

Your final day begins with a cooking class, learning the secrets of Moroccan spices and flavours with an expert chef in an authentic riad or Moroccan house!

Then, head to Tangier’s Waterfront, a scenic coastal area that provides stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea with beaches, cafes and restaurants.

Private coach transfer to the airport before your flight back to the UK.
