Not far from Toulouse, the medieval Carcassonne is a must-visit destination which will transport you back in time. The extensive history and careful restoration of the citadel have earned it a place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Flight from UK to Toulouse.

    Arrive and settle into your accommodation. 

    Become acquainted with the city of Toulouse by exploring some of its most iconic monuments: the Basilique Saint Sernin and the Couvent des Jacobins. 

    Relax on the banks of the Garonne River at La Daurade. 

  2. Day 2

    Dive deeper into the sights and stories of the city through a Guided Tour of Toulouse's most famous landmarks and their history. 

    Pay a visit to Toulouse's unique town hall building, Capitole followed by a wander around Toulouse's main square, Place du Capitole, the beating heart of the city and often the host of seasonal markets. 

    Finish the day with a visit to Toulouse's archaeological museum, Musée Saint Rayond, where you can see locally discovered antiquities dating back to the Roman period. 

  3. Day 3

    Spend the day in the magical medieval city of Carcassonne, known for its majestic citadel!

    Explore the Castle and Ramparts of Carcassonne and their 2800 years of history with an expert guide. 

    Afterwards, take a stroll through the historic streets of the Cité de Carcassonne, pop into some local shops and enjoy experiencing life within the city walls. 

    Finish your day in the Musée de l'École in the citadel where you can discover what life was like in 19th and 20th century schools! 

  4. Day 4

    Begin the day by strolling through the beautiful Jardin Japonais Pierre Baudis and admire the unique Japanese plants and architecture. 

    Next on the agenda is Musée Aeroscopia where you can discover over 40 different aircrafts housed in the city known as the space capital of Europe. 

    Optional Extra: Live and breathe the rugby spirit of Toulouse by watching a rugby match played by Stade Toulousain, the best team in France!

  5. Day 5

    Spend the morning exploring Marché Victor Hugo. Feel the hustle and bustle of the oldest indoor market in France and try some of the local delicacies!

    Finish your trip by exploring the mechanical universe of Halle de la Machine. Learn about their spectacular show machines and even take a ride on the famous mythological Minotaur!
